In 2019 I was hospitalised twice. I almost died once. 
I simply woke up one morning and couldn't walk…

With over 13 million women in the UK currently navigating the stages of menopause, it's a transformational life event that inevitably touches the lives of countless females over 35. 
I realised very quickly that my personal experience holds the potential to resonate with every woman you know.

JUNE 2019

After collapsing with extremely low Haemoglobin levels and rushed to emergency.
Doctors said I was lucky to be alive. 
The  iron and magnesium in my body were non-existent 
Nobody said I was perimenopausal.

AUGUST 2019

I woke up and couldn’t feel my legs. 
I was terrified. I even needed help to get showered and dressed and I was carried down the stairs before the ambulance could get me to the hospital. 
I was put on a cocktail of Tramadol, Morphine and Ibuprofen, plus drips to increase my Iron, Haemoglobin and Magnesium. 

I was told then for the first time that I was perimenopausal - but nobody told me what it meant.

Following her hospitalisation in 2019 and near-fatal complications due to undiagnosed menopause, Marva an award-winning skincare formulator shifted her focus to the midlife market and founded Shhh… a skincare and wellbeing brand specialising in breaking the taboo of menopause and providing products, resources and education for the perimenopausal and menopausal plus years.

Rapid in-depth accreditation ensued as a menopause coach and counsellor, Marva then took her expertise in menopause and wellbeing around the country in the form of educational workshops and instore pop ups to bring awareness to women and men in the public sector, in faith communities and corporate environments to help women  in the workplace and improve awareness and structural support systems for those in leadership roles.

Through my work in menopause care I've learned how the trajectory of and prevalence of common conditions such as fibromyalgia, adhd and pelvic issues as well as differences in the way different communities approach and speak about intimate woman's issues and menopause inform one's menopausal development and wellbeing."

Powerfully resonating within the community Marva's experience and expertise has vitally contributed to work of raising awareness of menopause and insufficiencies of care withing the healthcare system.
